Sunday School Sundays - The Best Kids Creation Bible Activity
It's time for another Sunday School Sunday lesson, so get out your Jesus Storybook Bible
and turn to, "The Beginning: A Perfect Home"!
This is the "Creation" story.
I LOVE this activity to do with the kids after reading the creation story to them.
Priscilla Shirer gave me the idea when she talked about how the creation story was planned out.
God prepared the habitat for the being that would later come.
He goes before us, and prepares for us... just like He did way back when He created the world.
. . .
Not sure what I'm talking about exactly?
Follow along with this activity.
First, take out a single sheet of copy paper.
Next, fold it in half (hamburger style).
Like so.
Next, turn it long ways, and fold that in half (hot dog style).
We will then fold that in half one more time in the same direction, thus making it look like what is pictured below.
Ta da!
Now, grab a marker and write (1), (2), and (3) as shown above.
We will then write (4), (5), and (6) in rectangles on the right, and a (7) on the very bottom left rectangle.
Now it's time to start drawing! You can use a marker, crayon, or colored pencil for this.
(I recommend using colored pencils for days 1, 2, and 3, and markers for day 4, 5, and 6. You'll see why later.)
To represent that on the first day God separated the light from the darkness, draw a diagonal line across the (1) rectangle and then color in a triangle (as shown above).
*Tip: Don't color in too, too much if you use a marker! We'll want to see through it later.
Now, on the (2) rectangle, draw the ocean (about half way in the rectangle) as well as clouds to show that God separated the water and the sky.
Now onto day (3). God gathered the land and created vegetation on it.
Draw a line showing the land and trees representing the vegetation.
Day (4) God created the sun, moon, and stars.
Draw a moon and stars, but make sure they are on the bottom right of the rectangle!
Next, draw a sun symbol on the top right corner of the rectangle.
On day (5), God created the birds and fish in the sea, so...
draw birds in the top of the rectangle and fish in the bottom of the rectangle.
For day (6), draw the best animal figure you can (you can see my llama/deer/rabbit above... apparently the only animal thing I can draw) as well as a man and woman. (I know Eve did not have a dress on, but this is just what I draw to represent a woman, okay?!)
On day (7), God rested.
Write "REST" all the way across the two bottom rectangles.
Now it's time to color!
Use some colored pencils to color in some of the areas you've created such as the water, land, and sun!
Now, for the cool part...
fold the paper in half (hot dog style).
Hold it up to the light.
Look at how they match up perfectly!
. . .
So, with the pictures below, I created the one on top using markers on all of the "days", and right below it is a picture of what it looks like if you use only colored pencils for days 1, 2, and 3, and use markers for days 4, 5, and 6.
I prefer the bottom pictures because of the clarity you get.
But as you can see, God really did prepare the habitat for the being He would then later create.
. . .
On day 1, He created the place in which the sun, moon, and stars would later be on day 4.
On day 2, He created the waters and sky which would later hold the fish and birds on day 5.
On day 3, He created the land and vegetation that would later house humans and animals on day 6.
And on day 7, He rested.
. . .
WOW!!!!!
. . .
God is such a great, thoughtful, and loving God! He thinks before He acts, and created these things for beings whom He loves and wants to have a relationship with!
God loves you. He prepares for you, and He provides for you in so many ways!
