Morning Routine

So... I am really not that much of a morning person.  (My family and friends would strongly agree with this statement.)  I often struggle to finally get out of the bed and start my day.  BUT, I have learned some tips and tricks that help me be a little bit more of a morning person.  So here is my personal morning routine.

1.) First, I turn off my (stupid) alarm that has woken me up from my wonderful slumber. (I really should change it to a song I like to hear and get up to.)

2.) Then, I open the blinds and let the natural light in.  I often have my eyes already focused on the outdooes when I first open the blinds so that I can see what kind of a day it is like today (rainy, sunny, etc.). The natural light serioiusly helps SO much! It immediately perks me up!

3.) Now I'll do some yoga with the Asana Rebel app which is AWESOME!!!! It has a different workout routine daily, so it keeps it interesting, and the daily workouts are usually under 5 minutes long, but you feel so good after them!  I strongly recommend this app!

4.) So after my morning yoga, I will go over to my daily calendar (DaySpring's Prayers and Blessings (Large Print)) and read today's prayer, blessing, or Scripture.  It's a great way to get refocused on God in the morning.

5.) Now, I'll sit down and read my "Closer to God Each Day - 365 Devotions for Everyday Living" devotional by Joyce Meyer.  This is SO GOOD! It's just enough in the morning to remind me what to work on today (forgiveness, patience, controling temptation, etc.) but it's not like reading an entire chapter of a book in the morning.  I love this!!

I like to drink some straight up peppermint tea in the morning, but sometimes don't get around to it.  I also like to diffuse an essential oil like lemon, lime, grapefruit, or peppermint in the morning, but often are a little bit too lazy :/.

6.) I then get ready for the day (brush my teeth, change clothes, yada yada), but the very last thing I like to do right before I leave is to read my motto for myself that I have written on a larger mirror right next to my bedroom door in my room.  I will write an entry on what my motto says a little later, but I would love for you to think about what your motto could be.  This motto helps direct me and prepare me for my day ahead, so that no matter what happens, I am grounded in the truth of it and it is my goal to live outload.

Well! There you have it! :) I love you and hope this helps you in figuring out your own morning routine!  I'd love to hear more about YOUR morning routine! :) Comment below!

Much love,
Maria
