Scripture Saturday - A Fun Way to Meditate on 1 Corinthians 13:13

YAY!!!!!!

We get to celebrate our first "Scripture Saturday" together!!!

Scripture Saturdays are a fun way to meditate and be in God's Word while also doing a fun art craft! Each Saturday we'll have a new Scripture to create in some way. Some weeks we will use colored pencils, while other weeks we will use something that might be in your trashcan right now! You never know what we're going to use or what Scripture we will be using, but it's sure to be a lot of fun!

So for our first week, our Scripture is:

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13

You've most likely heard of this verse, and probably even have it memorized! Let's get into a fun craft where we'll use a few colored pencils and a single piece of paper to remind of us of this incredible verse that so many of us know and hold close to our hearts.

First, you'll need:
- at least 2 colored pencils
- at least 1 piece of copy paper

Once you have your supplies, our first step will be to draw a heart just above the center of your page.

Next, color in the heart you just created. I used 2 different colors, but you can use however many or however few you would like!

After that, draw three lines above the heart (as pictured above).

Do the same on both the right and left side of the heart (as pictured above).

Next, we will draw two lines below the heart.

Now... the tricky part. We are going to begin drawing the bottom of an anchor, and it can take a couple of tries to get this part right. Draw one curved line away from the bottom of one of the lines you have just drawn.

I'm not exactly sure how to explain the next part, but we will begin making the point of one of the hooks at the bottom of the anchor by drawing a diagonal line away from the curved line you just drew.

Next, we will draw the second part to the point of the arrow.

And finally we will connect it to the anchor. We will then do the same thing to the right side, starting with the curved line.

We will then make the point to the right side of the anchor.

Okay, we're almost there!

So our next step is drawing a curved line at the base of the anchor, leaving some room so that we can connect it to the points on the right and left side.

Connect the curved line to the anchor.

We're not finished yet! We just have some coloring in to do.

Color in just the part shown above. (I used two colors to give it just a little bit more depth.)

Our Scripture speaks of "faith, hope, and love". In this picture the faith is the cross you just colored in. The hope is the anchor (from Hebrews 6:19, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul..."). Finally, the heart is our symbol for love (which is the greatest of all of these).

Now, you can stop here, or you can write the Scripture verse at the empty part in the anchor, at the bottom right of the page, or WHEREVER YOU WANT!

Whatever you choose, you're right. This is YOUR artwork, and this is YOUR time meditating on God's Word.

. . .

I hope you've enjoyed this craft and will put it somewhere to remind you that we have faith, hope, and love always. The Lord is with us, and we will not fail. Love is the greatest of these, and it never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:8a)
