Thrifty Thursday - Starbucks Hacks

Working at Starbucks, I hear a lot of things. One of the things I hear, are some great ideas for Starbucks Hacks! So here are my top 10 Starbucks hacks I've learned since I've began working there.

1 - 2 for 1 Rewards Deal

When you use a reward (which is about to change a little bit), get a Venti or Trenta drink and have them split it into 2 cups!

(Iced) Venti = 2 Talls
(Hot) Venti = almost 2 Talls
Trenta = almost 2 Grandes

My husband and I do this on rewards so that we can get a 2 for 1 special! :)

2 - Whip Cream Galore!

If you want A LOT of whip cream, ask for your drink to be in a cup that is a size up from what you asked for. For example- If you order a "Grande White Mocha with extra whip", ask for a "Grande White Mocha in a size Venti cup with extra whip". You'll get a ton of whip every time!


3 - Freshest Cup of Coffee... every time.

Want to ensure a FRESH cup of coffee each time? Try an Americano! And americano is basically the same thing as a cup of coffee.

Coffee - hot water poured over ground coffee beans
Americano - espresso (hot water poured over ground coffee beans) + hot water

*Espresso shots are super strong, and therefore adding some hot water to them makes a really good cup of coffee.


4 - "Hot Decaf for Matthew."

Want decaf, but are tired of getting a cold cup of coffee due to your pour-over taking forever and possibly being forgotten? Try a Decaf Americano!

Again, an americano is just like a fresh cup of coffee, but it won't take as long, and it is sure to be hot when it is handed to you!

Try it!


5 - Order your dog a puppuccino! 

A puppuccino (pup-uh-chee-no) is just whip cream in a cup for your dog. All the dogs LOVE them, but just be cautious because I've heard they also tend to give dogs gas!


6 - Sad to hear there's no more Cinnamon Shortbread Latte?

If you enjoyed the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte that is now going out of season, try a White Chocolate Mocha with Cinnamon Dulce.

7 - Butter Beer, anyone?!

Harry Potter fans - Try a Butter Beer Frappuccino by asking for a "Creme Based Frappuccino with Toffee Nut and Caramel Syrup"!

Try is hot by asking for a "Creme Steamer with Toffee Nut and Caramel Syrup". You might want to mention "no vanilla". That is the most popular steamer and a barista could accidentally put it in there if they're not paying attention.

But, both are absolutely DELICIOUS and I solemnly swear you'll be up to no good after drinking one!

8 - Cotton Candy! Get your Cotton Candy!

For those of you with a super sweet tooth, try our Cotton Candy Frappuccino!

Ask for a "White Chocolate Frappuccino with Raspberry Syrup".

I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds amazing!

9 - Chocolate Covered Strawberry Frappuccino = YUM

Chocolate covered strawberries are my FAVORITE dessert! I just found out recently, we can make a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Frappuccino by asking for a "Seriously Strawberry Frappuccino with Mocha Syrup".

This makes me want to light candles and draw a bath!

... One day.

10 - Fresh. Chocolate. Milk.

Want some fresh chocolate milk? Or chocolate milk using an alternative milk? Just ask us for one!

You can ask for a "Cold Milk with Mocha Syrup" and even specify what type of milk (2%, whole, skim, coconut, almond, soy, half & half (breve), or even whipping cream (please, don't)).

I've had a "Cold Milk with Coconut Milk and Mocha Syrup) and it was delicious! I'm not sure you could even find that at the grocery store!
