Thrifty Thursday - Taking Pictures Instead
If you're like me, you can often get sucked into a "buy it now" trap! If I'm in a store and I see something I like, I want it now! (Sound familiar Willy Wonka fans?)
Therefore, I have learned a trick that has saved me A LOT of money!
The trick is to... take pictures instead.
. . .
When I am at a store, instead of seeing something I like and then buying it right then and there, I take a picture of it. Sometimes I'll make sure I include something that will help me remember where I found said item, but by taking a picture of it, I can then later look at it and think more about it instead of making a mistake and buying it!
I take pictures of books (that I usually can find at my local library), clothes (that I usually realize didn't look that great on me really), and even items like mugs and towels!
Right now, if I look through the pictures on my phone, I can find:
- a sloth mug that says "soon-is"
- cute hiking boots
- books like "uninvited", "girl, wash your face", and "present-over-perfect"
- a mug that says, "coffee doesn't ask silly questions. coffee understands."
- a towel that says, "a meal without wine is called breakfast"
- a bag that says, "no drama llama"
- reusable "ziplock" bags
And how many of those items have I gone back and bought?
None.
And how much did I spend in realizing I actually didn't need these items anyway?
Zero.
This is a perfect solution to the problem so many of us (women) have in stores!
. . .
I hope you'll try this trick out next time you go to the mall. It'll save you in both money and regrets!
Cheers!
