Worshipful Ways Wednesday - 5 Ways To Worship Through Media

Welcome to Worshipful Ways Wednesdays where we will talk about ways in which we can worship God! (Wow that was a lot of w's!)

So today we're going to talk about ways we can worship God through media.

The word "media" makes me feel kind of icky honestly. So many bad things exist on the "media" whether it's cyberbullying, sexual immorality, or even people stealing others identities off of the internet!

It's a crazy world we live in, and for a time I thought the only way to be a good Christian was to just stay off of the media! If it's full of all of this bad stuff, why should I have a facebook or instagram account?!

Then I realized, maybe I'm supposed to bring the light to this dark place. Maybe I'm supposed to fight this battle we have going on. Maybe I'm supposed to find the ways Christians can use media as a source of light!

So... here are 5 ways YOU can worship and honor God through media.

1.) facebook-

A few years ago, a classmate of mine passed away due to suicide. I remember his funeral being so unexpected, and everyone wondering what happened. I got on Facebook that night and looked at his page. I felt so guilty. I wondered, "What if I would have just messaged him that day saying, "Hey! How can I be praying for you today?" Could that have stopped the suicide from happening?

I then decided I was going to use facebook to minister to others. I decided I was going to message every. single. friend I had on facebook asking, "Hey! I'm praying for you today. Is there anything specific I can be praying for?"

You would be amazed at the responses you get when you ask that question.

Everyone is going through something. Whether it's new jobs, schooling, or even sleepless nights with newborns.

Try it out, and see what happens!

2.) instagram-

Instagram is one of my favorite social media platforms! It's a GREAT way to show people what you do for your Quiet time, what church you go to, or even your testimony!

Use instagram to worship God through spreading His word and your story!

3.) follow 

Another way to use instagram to worship God is to follow your favorite preachers/churches/mission organizations to stay in the know of how you can be praying for them, as well as being encouraged by their Scripture or inspirational quotes!

4.) watch 

Watching what you see and hear on media is SOOOO important! Follow people that will push your towards God, not further away! Also, watch out for things on the television. I can attest that I have noticed a change in me if I watch shows I shouldn't watch verses shows that glorify God. Watch yo'self!

5.) blog

Want to share what you've learned in your faith with others? Write a blog! Continue to spread God's Word and your testimony through something you can share easily with others! I use "Blogger" through google for free and LOVE it! :)

In all, when it comes to making a decision that has to do with media, ask yourself, "Does/Will this glorify God?" If it does, AWESOME! Go for it!!!! If it doesn't, maybe that action should be reconsidered.
